In the event that a weather warning (storm warning, flood warning) is issued in the Tokyo metropolitan area (23 wards) due to a typhoon, classes will be canceled. The decision to cancel classes will be made no later than 2.5 hours before the scheduled start time. Exception: For classes starting at 7:30, the information will be provided the evening before. Participants will be notified of the decision via a message in the online course room of the Goethe-Institut Tokyo.
Examples:
For morning classes at 10:00: notification by 7:30
For afternoon classes at 14:15: notification by 11:45
If a weather warning is issued after the start of the class and there is a risk on the way home, the class may be ended early based on the decision of the head of the language department.
Please understand that in the event of class cancellations due to force majeure (typhoon, etc.), make-up classes will generally not be offered. However, if such cancellations occur frequently within a semester, the institute will strive to provide compensation.
Regardless of the weather conditions in the Tokyo metropolitan area (23 wards), traffic disruptions at your place of residence may prevent you from attending class. In this case, please inform your course instructor that you were unable to attend due to the typhoon.
